Enterprise Zone Agreements were completed for Alfe Heat Treating-Defiance, Inc., CBS Boring and Machine Company, and OneSource Diversified Services, Inc. on September 17, 2001. These new enterprise zones were created to supply General Motors Powertrain’s new Aluminum Plant. In 1999, General Motors completed an Enterprise Zone Agreement for the Aluminum Plant, promising to retain 500 full-time jobs in the General Motors Powertrain facilities.

The three new 2001 Enterprise Zone Agreements will create a total of sixty-three (63) new full-time jobs with a payroll totaling more than $1.8 million. Also, these three companies have promised to invest approximately $39 million in real and personal property, all of which will be placed in Defiance County.

Alfe Heat Treating, CBS Boring & Machine, and OneSource Diversified, Inc. will all be sharing a 146,000 square foot facility that will also be equipped with office space. The building construction is currently well underway. Walls will be put up by the 16th of November and concrete will be poured the following week.

One vendor for this project plans to be in the facility in February 2002. Test production for heat treating is scheduled to start by the end of March 2002.
